I’m Devon Copeland, a Licensed Mortgage Agent in East Gwillimbury, Ontario.

I had over twenty years of experience in sales management and running my own business. Therefore, I was looking for a career that could utilize my skill set to the fullest.
That’s when I stumbled across a mortgage brokering opportunity and realized it was the perfect fit for me. I’m an avid learner, so I quickly gained expertise in the many facets of mortgages while launching my services in 2020.
Over the past twelve months, the effects of the pandemic have created a significantly high volume in real estate transactions as the market was as hot as ever. Due to mortgage rates being at an all-time low, many borrowers were rushing to take advantage of the savings.
However, now, with rates rising slightly, I’ve noticed a slow down in demand and an increase in borrowers looking to refinance before housing prices go back down from their highs.
Therefore, my mission is to help clients get the most out of their real estate investments and help them reach their goals. Whether that is increasing their cash flow, paying off the mortgage in the shortest possible time, or getting a killer interest rate.
I try to impress on my clients that financial freedom is something we all strive for, and I endeavor to empower them to realize that dream faster by leveraging the equity in their homes to achieve it.
Consequently, I work with professionalism, and as an individual, I believe what sets me apart from others is my honest feedback.
My philosophy is that communication is the solution to most of the world’s problems, and that’s why I maintain open and frequent contact with my clients throughout the transaction. I also love researching, so my borrowers can be sure that they have the most up-to-date information.
As a new agent, I have the freedom to spend more time with my clients while explaining complex processes in plain English. It enables them to understand concepts quickly and make informed decisions about choosing the product that best suits their needs.
I also attribute my success to the wonderful support of Dominion Lending Centres (DLC), which is one of the top brokerages in the country.
My mentor is in the top ten percent of brokers at the DLC and has passed on a vast library of tips and tricks to me. This knowledge has allowed me to create customized mortgages for a multitude of grateful clients.
I once had a client whose file seemed impossible to underwrite. However, I requested additional documents from the borrower, and I took the file to multiple lenders. My persistence enabled me to negotiate a mortgage rate that surpassed the original request, which was rewarding.
When I’m not securing lenders, I love to spend quality time with my family and pets. I also enjoy camping, canoeing, hiking, birding, and reading a ton of fiction/non-fiction and money management books.
When I get a weekend away from home, I can be found enjoying a cool drink at my cottage in Minden while soaking up the peace and tranquility. I adore nature, so I support habitat protection and wildlife preservation initiatives.
I also love to travel and can run my business from anywhere with an internet link. I’ve spent lots of time in Nayarit, Mexico, and look forward to returning when it’s safe to travel again.
